As the name suggests, continuous biochar production equipment can help you make biochar with no pause. Even 24 hours a day. So if you want to setup a large scale biochar plant for commercial charcoal production, it is the best choice for you.

What is the process of continuous biochar making?

Continuous biochar production involves the thermal decomposition of biomass in a controlled environment with limited oxygen, a process known as pyrolysis. In a continuous system, biomass is converted into biochar, bio-oil, and syngas in a more streamlined and uninterrupted manner compared to batch processing. Here’s a general overview of the continuous biochar making process:

Biomass must be collected and often processed to achieve uniform size and moisture content. Materials like wood chips, agricultural residues, or other organic wastes are typical feedstocks.

The prepared biomass is continuously fed into the pyrolysis reactor using conveyors or auger systems to maintain a steady flow and ensure continuous production.

The core of biochar production is the pyrolysis reactor, where biomass is heated to high temperatures (typically 400-700°C) in the absence of oxygen. This is a critical step because the lack of oxygen prevents the biomass from combusting and instead causes it to thermally decompose.

As the biomass progresses through the reactor, it is transformed into biochar. The biochar is then continuously discharged from the reactor, commonly through a screw conveyor system. It has special water cooling system, which is beneficial for preventing oxidation or combustion when biochar exposed to air

During pyrolysis, volatile gases and liquids are released. These are typically drawn off and can be condensed into bio-oil, while non-condensable gases (syngas) can be used to fuel the reactor or for other energy purposes.

4 Advanrages of continuous biochar production line

Double layer drum design

In general, continuous biochar furnace contains single layer and double layer. And the latter is very popular with many biochar suppliers. Because raw materials can stay in the drum kiln for a long time, the machine can carbonize biomass faster.

PLC control system

Our continuous charcoal manufacturing line adopts PLC control system. It can monitor and adjust parameters such as temperature, rotation speed and material flow of the drum carbonization furnace in real time. In this way, your biochar manufacturing has a higher production efficiency, less impact of human factors and higher stability of product quality.

Wide capacity range

In addition, compared to other carbonization systems, it has a larger capacity range. From 100kg/h to 500 kg/h charcoal making project, it can fully meet your requirements. So it is suitable for both small scale biochar making and large scale charcoal production projects.

Combustible gas recycling

With dust collection and cooling system, the system can treat carbonization combustible gas into fuel for heat supply. So after using a biomass gasifier for preheat, you can finish the commercial charcoal making without extra fuel expense. This is an excellent sustainable biochar making plan.
